Florence was so beautiful...I can't begin to explain how lucky I feel to be afforded the opportunity to visit so many countries with my closest friends. I stayed in a quiet apartment that is a part of the Italian Language School (CLIC) right outside the Piazza de Repubblica. The atmosphere was so different from London and Copenhagen (literally) – THE WEATHER WAS ACTUALLY NICE. Lol. I ate so much amazing food and gelato. I ate gelato twice a day and I was only there for 3 days. Anyway, the first full day I was there I went wine tasting in the Chianti region. It was sooooo delicious. The first vineyard was on top of this beautiful sloping hill where you could see the entire landscape…and the second one was actually in a medieval castle. The noble family still operates the castle – there’s stores, restaurants and a church aside from the vineyard. It was like being placed back in the Medieval Times.

The next day I did some exploring on my own (and found this AWESOME crepe place called Milkeria) and went to the Galleria dell’Academia to see the David…I almost had to wait online for like 2 hours, but this tour guide saw that I was alone and didn’t have my ticket yet and took me with her on her tour group – she literally gave me a ticket, we cut the line and skipped through security and she dropped me right off in front of the David. Incredible. I guess I had some good karma. The David was magnificent…so much larger and detailed than any picture I’ve ever seen of him. After I climbed up the Duomo, and the sight was beautiful. I met up with friends in the evening for dinner and we walked up to the Piazza de Michelangelo to watch the sunset over Florence. Absolutely amazing view, except for the fact all the vendors were trying to sell you selfie sticks...haha. Regardless, I will definitely be returning to Florence.
