I fell in love with Sweden (and Swedish mothers, sorry mom)

I don't even know where to start with this weekend trip - It was the most breathtakingly beautiful experience I've ever had, and probably will have.
First, my DIS group and I went on a canoe trip in the pooring rain - we were so cold after canoeing on the beautiful Ronne river for hours. Then we went to our hostel - which was barely a hostel. From the outside it looks like a cute farmhouse...But in reality, It was like going to your grandma's house. The women that ran the place were so motherly, serving us lunch out of a big pot of soup; they even had a bin of slippers at the door so you didn't have to wear your shoes through the "house."

After lunch, we traveled to Nimis, which is technically in Sweden - but it is actually part of a micronation called Ladonia created by an artist named Lars Vilks. He made the structures pictured below out of driftwood nailed together. Climbing through this quasi-jungle gym made me feel like a little kid - everyone felt that way. We were all running around and squeezing through small pathways to get to the tops of the towers.
(My friend is peaking out through the driftwood in the second picture below).

After returning from the beautiful coast, we had a bonfire at our hostel. Best night of sleep I've ever had.
The next morning we headed to Oresund, about a 15-20min drive from the hostel. We were split into two groups: one participated in orienteering, and the other went rappelling.
My group started with orienteering - we hiked & climbed up and down cliff sides and even went inside a cave. So cool!

And then there was rappelling. I have never been so afraid in my entire life. I don't have a fear of heights, but surrendering myself to my harness was NOT something I was prepared for. But I did it. It was the most incredible thing I've ever done.
